Ask Brieva

• Ask about a period in your own words, like "the first week of August", "on 3 September" or "last Friday".
• Answers draw on what was said in your transcripts, not only on your notes.
• Lists of action items come back complete and much faster.
• Meeting prep answers list the open items and pick the right meeting in a series.
• Follow-up questions keep the topic and the meeting you were talking about.
• When nothing is found, Brieva tells you what it searched.
• Long answers no longer fail.

Summaries and minutes

• Summaries of long meetings keep more of the detail.
• Notes during a meeting cover more of what has been discussed so far.
• A summary that gets cut off is written again instead of patched.
• Speech from speakers you have not named is no longer attributed to someone else.
• Minutes no longer mark earlier actions as done unless someone said so.

Improvements

• Live transcript - uses less of your Mac's processor, memory and graphics while transcribing and when idle, and background services stop when you stop transcribing.
• Outlook items - an item dropped on a meeting is matched by its title, so recurring meetings no longer ask for confirmation.
• Speaker naming - the tip about naming a voice shows once, until you click Got it.

Ask Brieva

• Ask about your meetings in plain language - what was decided, what your action items are, how often you met with someone - and get an answer drawn from your own transcripts, summaries and calendar.
• Every answer names the meetings it came from; click a citation to open the meeting.
• Ask follow-up questions; the conversation carries your last few exchanges.

iPhone and iPad

• Pair an iPhone or iPad from Settings and your meetings, transcripts and summaries sync to it. The Brieva app for iPhone and iPad is available on the App Store.
• Everything stays on your own devices and your own network - nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Improvements

• Live transcript - capture is more reliable, the last words spoken are saved when you stop, and closing the window lets transcription keep going in the background.
• Speaker identification - tap any speech bubble to name that speaker, and the legend shows named speakers only.
• UI and UX - share a meeting with the macOS share sheet, and calendar tiles highlight only the meeting happening right now.

Requires macOS 14.4 or later. Drop your own context onto a meeting, name the voice that is speaking, and a set of reliability fixes.

Meeting context

• Drop emails, PDFs and Word documents from Outlook or Finder onto a meeting; the pre-meeting summary builds from what you add and updates with every drop.
• Drop an Outlook meeting onto its own tile to fill in the organizer, attendees and description.
• Outlook email scanning has been retired; dropped context replaces it and nothing runs in the background.

Speakers

• Name the voice that is speaking right now with the “Who is this?” control; names carry through to the transcript, the summary and the exported minutes.
• One unnamed voice at a time, so a voice that was split by mistake no longer scatters across colours.

Meetings

• Attendee lists show the full count and expand past ten people.
• Plain-language names throughout: Local AI, Transcription and Speaker detection, with technical details kept in Settings.
• Release notes show as sections in the What’s-new card and in Settings.
• The database backups list in Settings is collapsed by default.

Fixes

• Starting a session no longer waits on the microphone; a stalled microphone could hang the start and lose a meeting.
• Starting a session while another app holds the Local AI port no longer stops Brieva’s backend.
• PDF drops now work in the installed app.
• No more crash on quit while a drop overlay was open.
• The live transcript’s word-by-word reveal is continuous within a bubble.
• If the audio helper dies mid-session it restarts itself and the session carries on.

• Name each speaker while a session is running - the names carry through to the transcript, the summary and the exported minutes.
• Merge speech groups that turned out to be the same person.
• Attendance lists show people’s names instead of raw email addresses.
• The day’s action-items panel is resizable, with matching meeting colors and no repeated items.
• A summary that fails now retries instead of leaving a half-finished result.
• The live transcript reveals itself word by word, with a smoother volume meter and clearer wording when a license needs attention.
